The first year modules are not difficult and there are actually many people who got full marks for quizzes and mid terms. So if you are not sure how the bell curve for a particular module is like, getting all questions right would definitely put you at the extreme right of the bell curve.
2. Attempt and re-attempt all tutorial questions
From my experience, the exam questions would be similar to what we were given for tutorials, at least for calculus modules. During the week before exams, redo the questions and check with the given solutions until you are able to solve every one of them without referring to the answers.
For chem modules, do past year papers in the same manner as many of the tutorial questions are quite fundamental and most of them would not be tested. But tutorials are also very important in helping you to understand new concepts or recap.
3. Google everything and anything
There are many chemistry resources online, so if you are too shy to ask questions, just google~ Especially for past year papers as some of the solutions are not given. I have found several exact same questions with solutions provided online, the internet is such a great invention *o*
Oh in case anyone needs, you can google exact phrases by using quotation marks ""
4. Go for (and pay attention to) lectures
I spent such a hard time studying for some modules as I did not attend the lectures. Although recordings are available, I think it is better if you are physically there as sometimes the lecturer would do demonstrations or write on the whiteboard which may not be captured clearly. Sit at the front rows if you think you are easily distracted.
5. Choose the modules you like
As CBC has relatively less core modules as compared to other sciences and engineering courses, you have more freedom to explore your other interests by taking modules outside of chemistry as unrestricted electives. Of course, you can get a concentration in either food science, medicinal chem or green chem by taking 3 related modules, but it is not compulsory~
